Context is the working material for a reply
A conversation model uses available text to produce the next answer. A context limit concerns that working material. A reply-length limit concerns the size of the answer. A saved transcript concerns what an account displays. These concepts should not be treated as one unlimited memory feature.
SpicyChat’s documentation describes model- and tier-dependent context. Check the limit applicable to the selected model instead of assuming a plan’s largest headline figure applies to every chat.
Use a fictional continuity anchor
In an ordinary story, establish that an invented adult curator is preparing an indoor exhibition. Later change a harmless detail: the exhibition moves to a smaller room. Ask a subsequent question whose answer depends on the correction.
Record whether the response follows the current detail. If it returns to the larger room, the observation is a continuity issue in that exchange. It does not reveal exactly which internal process failed.
Summaries are another piece of input
A brief factual summary can restate the current fictional situation. Keep it accurate and omit obsolete details unless they matter to the story. A large summary full of contradictions may make the working context harder to interpret.
Do not claim that a summary guarantees recall. It supplies relevant information; the next response still needs to be evaluated for how it uses that information.
Distinguish saved history from current recall
Seeing an old message in an interface does not by itself establish that the entire message is available for the next reply. Likewise, a longer answer does not prove better recall of an earlier constraint.
If a service offers a separate memory tool, inspect its explanation and controls independently. Use an ordinary fictional detail for a test rather than storing sensitive personal information merely to see whether it returns later.
A practical record
| Concept | Question it answers |
|---|---|
| Context | What material can influence this reply? |
| Reply length | How large can one answer be? |
| Saved history or memory | What is stored, displayed or retrieved separately? |
Continuity needs an observable record. Interface history, answer length and current context cannot substitute for one another.
